Two fellowship recipients will be awarded $3,000 each and a solo exhibition at HCP in the summer of 2012. One Houston-based artist (residing within a 100 mile radius of Houston including the Beaumont, Galveston, and College Station areas) will receive the Carol Crow Memorial Fellowship and another artist from anywhere in the world, outside the Houston area, will receive the HCP Fellowship. W.M. Hunt, Collector, Curator and Consultant (New York, NY) will jury the fellowship selection.

W.M. Hunt (Bill Hunt) is a New York-based collector, curator and consultant, a champion of photography. He loves fresh talent and Houston. He is responsible for introducing many major contemporary artists in the US, including Luc Delahaye, Julian Faulhaber, Andreas Gefeller, James Mollison, Erwin Olaf, Martin Schoeller, and Paolo Ventura, etc. “RE: Groups: American Photographs before 1960” selections from his “Blind Pirate Collection” was shown at HCP in 2010.
His “Collection Dancing Bear” of photographs is the subject of “The Unseen Eye; Photographs from the Unconscious”, published by Thames & Hudson in the UK and Aperture in the US and as “L’Oeil Invisible” by Actes Sud in France. Highlights of the collection have been exhibited in Arles, Lausanne and Amsterdam and the George Eastman House in Rochester, NY and Blue Sky Gallery in Portland, OR.
Hunt has been a longtime board member of the W. Eugene Smith Memorial Fund, AIPAD (Association of International Photography and Art Dealers), and The Center for Photography at Woodstock. He also teaches at the School of Visual Arts and for many years he has produced the “Your Picture …” panels for PDN. He has also written for a number of publications and monographs (Bill Armstrong, Mark Beard, Manuel Geerinck, Bohnchang Koo, Luis Mallo, Jeff Sheng, Mickey Smith, Phil Toledano, Frank Yamrus, etc.)
Most recently he had curated Photolucida’s Critical Mass touring exhibition and judged competitions for Photo Center North West in Seattle (“Equivalents”), the Castell Gallery in Asheville, NC (“Road”) and KlompChing in Brooklyn, NY (“FRESH”).
He was one of the principles in Hasted Hunt (and more recently Hasted Hunt Kraeutler) and Ricco/Maresca Gallery.

- Upon your acceptance, the work to be exhibited must be delivered ready-to-hang, and any pedestals or hardware needed for installation of the work. We require Black or White wood frames and bright white matting if applicable.
- Artists exhibiting slide or video projection, installation or sculptural works beyond a two dimensional format must provide the hardware and equipment necessary to exhibit the work as it is intended to be shown. HCP does not provide slide or video projectors.
- Your entry constitutes understanding and agreement with the conditions outlined in this prospectus.

Campos de Gutiérrez is now accepting proposals for the first session of 2013 (January 15th – March 30). The foundation offers up to 60% coverage of program costs.
The Campos de Gutiérrez Foundation is inviting artists, designers, art historians, and curators to apply to its residency program housed in a 19th century coffee plantation in the foothills of Medellin. The residence is located within a natural reserve 25 minutes away from the city’s downtown area.
The full ten-week program provides residents with the following: Private lodging with unlimited studio access; A studio visit from one guest critic in addition to optional weekly critiques; Weekly guided trips to sites of interest in Medellin; Access to the Campos de Gutiérrez Library and Archive; An exhibition or artist talk.
The foundation will select six to eight applicants to participate in this session. The foundation offers up to a 60% need-based subsidy of the program fee, which is estimated at USD $750 a month (4 weeks). Costs are lower for bilingual residents who are fluent in English and Spanish and groups. The fee does not cover board, transportation, or materials except for ceramic clay.
Proposals should be made to begin after January 14th and end before March 31st, 2013. The minimum amount of time for a residency period is six weeks.
